Human heredity is the passing on of characteristics from one generation to the next. Through heredity, humans inherit traits from their parents. There are two different types of traits which are inherited and acquired traits.
It is important for middle and high school teachers because these teachers must be able to apply and connect the GSE's into their lessons. Human heredity is a topic that is a part of the GSE's and should be taught to the students. It is also important for these teachers to be able to answer common questions of the students such as: Why do I have brown eyes? Why is my hair blonde? etc.
